RED, WHITE 'N TRUE
THAT RAMA LAMA DING DONG
MICHELLE OBAMA

If ever there was a reason NOT to vote for Barack Obama it’s his rama-lama-ding-dong wife, Michelle. Despite her fifties-styled dress, and her dippity-doo hairstyle, not to mention those ever-present strand of pearls, she is clearly NOT June Cleaver, mother of Beaver. With her much scripted look and her oft-spoken about role as chief bucket holding parent of the Senator and Mrs. Obama’s  two daughters, she's not even Donna Reed.

Beneath that strand of pearls and the Target clothes she says she wears (that got her on Vanity Fair’s 68th Annual International Best-Dressed List?) lies a cleaver-wielding mouth and an attitude most unbecoming of a possible First Lady.

Who put the bop in the bop shoo bop words she spews, I do not know. But one thing is clear. While the bi-racial Senator Obama is running as a MAN for president, Mrs. Obama is running her boogity boogity boogity shoo boy as a BLACK man.

Surely it’s not easy being the partner to a candidate for president. Probably no one knows this better than the Clintons' who have each been on either side of the equation. Hillary put her shoo-bop shoo-bop foot in her mouth on more than one occasion as she stood by her man. And poor rama lama ding dong Bill is having his own tough time navigating his new role of adulator in chief.

We have the gamut of wives in this cycle (and one husband), although none are as quoted as Mrs. Obama. There’s Romney’s Barbie ANN Doll, and Giuliani’s Princess Judy. Hee Haw Huckabee’s wife seems non-existent, as does McCain’s Cindy Lou who hasn’t been making much noise on the happy trail to the White House this cycle. Elizabeth Edwards has played her part beautifully, been outraged when her husband couldn’t be. Besides, whatever she says, she gets a free-pass; the lady is fighting terminal breast cancer with a courage we can only admire.

But then there’s RAM-a-lama-IT-DOWN-YOUR-THROAT, Michelle, that punishing provocateur, the “I was just a typical South Side little black girl,” – not just a little girl - who had the audacity-of-hope to say about her husband’s run for the presidency: “Black people will eventually wake up and get it.” The line has been quoted repeatedly by the press, but I can’t find that anyone has asked the obvious question of Mrs. Obama,  "wake up and get WHAT?”

Get that Senator Obama is running to be the black people’s president? Get that black people should vote for Obama because he is black? Get that ya'll better vote for a black man whether he’s competent or not because if you don’t you’re just a bunch of black fools?! Really, Mrs. Obama, tell us what you rama lama ding dong meant.

There are other questionable quotes made by the ineloquent Mrs. Obama. In describing her years as a student at Princeton, Mrs. Obama said, “I was different, being black [in a predominantly white school], but I found a black support base.” What kind of dip da dip kind of shoo bop statement is that? Is this a woman who is more comfortable in a black world than THE world? Are she and her husband running to be president of BLACK America or AMERICA? Will there be enough black cabinet members to make Mrs. Obama feel at home in the White House?

Sho bop shoo bop, these are not unfair questions to ask a couple pandering for the vote of ALL Americans.
