Larry, Moe and Curly, the three stooges who head the three failing behemoths called GM, Ford and Chrysler once the three titans of the automotive industry, flew into Washington, D.C. on their three corporate jets to beg Congress for $25 billion smackeroos of American’s money, a bailout, the three said, so they can get in front of the curve and catch up in innovation to the companies that are putting them out of business.

No longer the leaders in technology and corporate originality, the American automotive industry is - as is much of American industry- living in a time-warp. Motown is stuck in the doo-wop fifties when the big family car was the symbol of status and gas was thirty-two cents a gallon.

(HILLARY'S DECISION)

From ABC's Jake Tapper..."On Wednesday night Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, told the Obama Transition Team that she was inclined to reject President-elect Obama's offer that she be the next Secretary of State. Among other reasons, the autonomy of life in the Senate, where she is her own master, appealed to her.

She was encouraged to refrain from making a final decision.

On Thursday, many people in Obama's world reached out to Clinton and convinced her to take the job.

By Thursday night, she had conveyed to President-elect Obama that she was interested in the job.  In other words, she essentially accepted his offer."

(THOUGHTS ON MADAM SECRETARY)

(SNEAK PEEK)

From Bob Woodward on this week-end's Chris Matthews Show:

"Being president is about control, and tell me who ever controlled Bill or Hillary Clinton. They can't control each other. ... I think it's because Warren Buffett and Paul Volcker and others have convinced Obama, 'You're going to have to focus like a laser on the economy. That's issue Number One. And give Hillary and Bill the world.' ... I think people are fantasizing or smoking something if they think Joe Biden's going to call Hillary Clinton up and say, 'This is what we want you to do.'"

(BO PICKS TREASURY )

Tim Geithner gets the nod over former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. Geithner is currently the president of the Federal Reserve and he is a protégée of Summers. Reports say that Obama team is so concerned about further erosion of the economy they felt the appointment couldn't wait.

(YEAH!!!!)

Thank goodness, our new president is going to stand up to the Gun Lobby. It's about time someone had the guts to do so. He's ticking off the NRA by asking potential appointees detailed questions about gun ownership. Too bad. We've got to deal with reality in this country, and reality is too many nuts have access to guns. I'm just saying...
