 Barack Obama may be anointed by the Democratic Party its presidential nominee by having bested Hillary Clinton in the primary fight (even if only by a paltry few votes), but he still has a problem of major proportion to deal with: Hillary Clinton.

On Tuesday night, when Barack Obama was anointed the Democratic Party’s presumptive presidential nominee and was taking his victory lap on the stage at a rally in St. Paul, Minnesota, there standing by her man was his dutiful wife, Michelle.

America is in crisis, an energy crisis, and no one seems to be paying serious attention to the crisis, least of all our politicians.

While in this season of “the politics of change” -- the useless word that is no more than a campaign jingle spouted most notably by the new kid on the block and the likely next president of the United States, Senator Barack Obama -- in Washington, D.C. it remains politics as usual.

Seventy-one year old John McCain needs a facelift, really.

Not because of the barnacles of age that the old Navy war hero wears on his skin, or because of the scar that snakes down the cheek of his face, remnants of his battle with skin cancer. No, Old Mac needs a different kind of cosmetic surgery, the kind to rid himself of the plastic personas that make up his image these days.
