CHARM SCHOOL
Bibi Netanyahu has charm. He was the master of it back in the old days when he appeared on the early shows of Nightline and elsewhere. It seems to be missing these days and the vacuum he created as lead Israeli charmer is now being usurped by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas has certainly charmed the nubile Barack Obama into thinking that he is for peace, while somehow Netanyahu has convinced Obama and the world that he and Israel are not.
The art of diplomacy, and that's what world leaders practice as a living, is subtle business. No one knows this better than Obama, who charmed his way into the White House.
Leaders careers rise and fall on charm. Kennedy had it and Nixon did not, and Kennedy won that election. Carter had it during election season, and lost it when he was in residence at 1600 PA. Avenue and then quickly lost the presidency. Papa Bush had it in an odd sorta way; he too lost it under the strain of an election. Tush certainly had it, when Gore did not. And, of course, there is the master of charm, Bill Clinton.
Netanyahu could use a brush up course in charm? Maybe Bill Clinton will give him a lesson or two.
Because right now Abbas is winning the charm offensive against Netanyahu. Abbas, perhaps under the tutelage of his mentor Barack Obama, is saying -- we all know what he really wants -- all the right things. The world is convinced that Abbas is a true partner in peace and Netanyahu is not. Of course, Israel has bent over backwards to meet the demands of the Palestinians, Abbas and their chief negotiator, Barack Obama. But the world doesn't see it this way. The world sees a charming Abbas and a strident, if not surly Bibi Netanyahu. Surly and strident, by the way, are code words for arrogant Jew i.e. anti-Semitism.
That being said, it is time for Israel's Prime Minister to begin a charm offensive. Style in diplomacy is as important as substance. While it's doubtful that anything Netanyahu does will persuade Obama to change his misguided ME policy, it is possible for Netanyahu to gain the confidence of other world leaders. But more importantly, truly rally his American troops here in the US.
At the end of the day it would be a hell of a thing for Israel to have lost its fight for The Jewish State over something as simple to convey as charm.

PALATE CLEANSER: 4 U TO CHEW ON
Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah probably refrained from expressing at least half this sentiment in his meeting today with President Obama: On June 5, he reportedly told French Defense Minister Hervé Morin that "There are two countries in the world that do not deserve to exist: Iran and Israel."
The scoop comes from Georges Malbrunot, a French journalist with Le Figaro. Malbrunot, a respected Middle East correspondent who spent four months as a hostage of the Islamic Army in Iraq, goes on to report that two sources, from diplomatic and military circles, have confirmed the story. He suggests that the anger directed as Israel was the result of the IDF raid on the Gaza-bound flotilla, which occurred just days before this outburst.

NOT THE TIME FOR ISRAEL TO BLINK
Tensions between Israel and BO (not Congress) continue to escalate. Now, Israeli Defense Minister, after intense talks with US officials, is asking PM Netanyahu to compromise on a "diplomatic horizon" with O in order to secure the long-term relationship with the US. Reading between the lines it sounds as if O might be willing to cut off funds to Israel should he not get his way.
With the mid-term elections in the US looming, how far is O willing to push the issue? How much will American Jews take of O's bullying? And how much will the Jewish financiers of the Dem Party tolerate before they close their wallets?
O has world opinion on his side. But the world doesn't get to vote in American elections. Netanyahu would be well-served to hand O crumbles for the near future. He doesn't have to give O a chunk of any pie...not as long as elections loom. In September the moratorium on building is set to end. Netanyahu can use that for leverage to keep O in check. After the elections, is another story, however.
And then, of course, there is Iran.
UPDATE: No, Surrender

I'm going out on a limb, here. Elena Kagan will become a Supreme Court justice. LOL! The hearings, of course, are pure theatre, because Ms. Kagan will soon be sitting on the bench. But, the Republicans will try to rip her to shreds as they build themselves up, and the Dems will respond in kind. A Republican president will nominate a right wing zealot give the chance, and the Dems will nominate an activist judge given the chance. So might we do away with these spectacles and save the taxpayers some money and time when the next sat is vacant? Of course, we can't, because this is the law. But, honestly, watching this guff is like watching Judge Judy but on C-Span...simply another channel offering boring reality TV. Which begs the question, what constitutes reality anymore?

THE TRUTH ABOUT OBAMA + ISRAEL
The truth comes out. Israel's Ambassador Michael Oren let's loose with a earful as to the true nature of the relationship between Obama and Israel...and it isn't pretty.
While Obama tries to reset his public image in his handling of Israel, it turns out to be nothing but Kabuki theater. This president feels no friendship towards Israel. Zero!
But what of AIPAC and the Anti-Defamation League and all other Jewish interest groups in the US? Why are they refusing to stand up to the president, and helping him in his effort to fool the pro-Israel groups that he has Israel's best interests at heart? Why are they playing into the president's hands?
I have said before and will again: current AIPAC leadership and Abe Foxman need to go. They're old, tired, and, if you will, dumb. What's worse, they've lost their guts.
By the way, Obama needs to go, too, but that's another piece.

THE IRAN SANCTIONS BILL
A mere 8 lawmakers voted against the Iran sanctions bill. All 8 have been funded by lunatic fringe, anti-Israel group J Street. Now why in the world would any lawmaker vote against Iran sanctions? Can you think of a reason? Unless you WANT Iran to achieve their nuclear goals in order to gain power in the Middle East and use their weapons against their nemesis Israel both literally and figuratively. Equally, as Iran is a threat to the Middle East, it is to the United States. So again I ask the question: Why would an elected American official vote against Iran sanctions? I know my answer. What's yours?

ARE THE REPUBLICANS DELIBERATELY...
Question of the day: Are the Republicans deliberately sacking the economy in order to win the mid-term election? There is evidence that this may be true. I will condemn the Republicans for placing partisanship over country. And I will say, that given opportunity, the Democrats would most likely do the same.
This question, therefore, gets to the heart of exactly why this country is in the mess that it is: Partisanship beats patriotism in government.
I know, I know, BIG YAWN! You've heard the talk before. But what you haven't heard is that it is not the politicians who hold all the blame for this. It is the citizens who should be faulted for this turn. Not only because they elect these radical bozos to represent them in government, but because they themselves are so strident in their political views.
Things in this country will not change until Americans open their closed minds. At the end of the day, therefore, it is not government that will change the fate of America. It is the people, which is exactly the way our forefathers designed our country to function.
Now, if only Americans would remember their opening line: "We the people..."

MCCHRYSTAL RELIEVED OF COMMAND
Gen. David Petraeus, as I thought, will takeover the Afghanistan War. I don't know why everyone else was tossing around other names. Petraeus seemed obvious.
That being said, there is a much larger issue here than the tabloid coverage of McChrystal's saga. Now maybe that McChrystal has been relieved of his command, the media will focus on the message delivered by McChrystal: We have a leader in the White House who has failed in his job as commander-in-chief.
And that the Afghan War cannot be won with less than full commitment, something it is clear Obama never offered McChrystal. It needs to be discussed. Our leaders cannot proceed without the support of the people, and the people don't have a leader to bring them into the fold.
Perhaps Gen Petraeus can whip the dysfunctional WH and Cabinet into shape and takeover the leadership of the war for the ineffectual president.
At the end of the day, McChrystal might have actually done some long-term good, at his own short-term expense.
UPDATE: President begins Rose Garden talk saying McChrystal's being relieved had nothing to do with a difference of opinion on Afghanistan and then went on to defend the schisms. I said above that this will help the president in the long-run. Gen. Patraeus will lead the Obama administration into unity, and with his popularity, perhaps the American people.

In response to worldwide criticism but mostly to get the world off its back, Israel has announced the easing of the Gaza blockade. This was the smart thing to do. It now puts Hamas on notice, almost dares Hamas to so start shelling Israel again. One Qassam lobbed on Israel's land after the easing of the blockade will be enough for Israel to sing its 'I told you sos.' On the other hand, Hamas knows it cannot afford to look like the terrorist organization that it is, and will likely curb aggressive acts towards Israel. We'll have to wait to see.

THE SAD TRUTH ABOUT OBAMA
Obama's reset button on Israel has set the world on fire, the fire to at last bring the Jewish nation down.
Thank you President Obama for formally condoning the right to hate Israel and unleashing anti-Semitism long held in check by the power of the U.S. presidency. All that is changing with Obama's bizarre embrace of Hamas, a known terrorist organization. The world as we knew it is being turned upside down. The good-guys are now the bad guys and terrorism has won. In no time at all Obama will be sanctifying al Qaeda and praising them for killing American citizens, because, after all, Israel made them do it.
Now Obama wants to do a reset on U.S. relations with Hezbollah, another declared terrorist organization. Some might ask the question, what exactly is Obama up to?
Here's the answer: By virtue of his own upbringing, by virtue of his long associations with left-wing radicals, by virtue of his years listening to the sermons of Rev. Jeremiah Wright blaming the black man's problems on the Jews, Barack Obama became Rev. Wright and Rev. Farrakhan in heart and mind.
Obama governs from the place of victimhood and his plan was always to use the bully pulpit of the Oval Office to embolden the victims of the Jewish/Wealthy Cabal to take back the world.
In short, Barry Sotero took the name Barack Hussein Obama when he joined the Black Muslim brotherhood, The Nation of Islam. That is who he is, that is what he believes and that is who he serves as president.
Those right-minded people who understand who are the evil and who are not better rally against this surrogate for Wright and his ilk. The damage being done to right vs. wrong may be undoable if Obama isn't soon stopped in this most bizarre reset. If not we'll all be sleeping with the enemy.

OBAMA TO SUPPORT UN ANTI-ISRAEL RESOLUTION?
This morning I posted a link on my Facebook page to Bill Kristol's report that sources say that Obama will support an anti-Israel resolution in the UN next week concerning the flotilla incident.
The administration denies this is true, sort of.
It becomes clear that we're into new territory with this WH. I think the WH is seriously considering the idea and as it has done in the past, was floating the idea for reaction. Bill Kristol got wind of Obama's plan and put out the alarm bells to pro-Israel groups.
The best thing to come of this is that both Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid are formulating a joint letter calling on Obama to not just oppose new efforts to isolate Israel at the U.N., but to openly declare support for the Jewish state. Trust me they wouldn't waste their time, if they didn't think this president wasn't traveling way off the reservation on the issue of Israel.

THE PROBLEM WITH OBAMA
Pundits spin and cogitate and all those things we do in trying to understand who our President Barack Obama is and why he does the things he does.
We can spin and mull the presidency from now until the Obama's leave 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and we still might not find the answer to the question: Who is Obama?
We have been looking in the wrong place for our answers. We delve into Obama's foreign policy, we ruminate over his lack of anger on the oil spill, we seek to discover how he pushed health care legislation through.
Now, after having stood steadfastly behind his candidacy, politicos and pundits, those who voted for Obama, as well as those who did not appear to be scratching their heads: This president in no way reflects candidate Obama. Of course, they're wrong. Read my book A YEAR IN MY PAJAMAS WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA, The Politics of Strange Bedfellows. Yes, indeed, folks, the past is prelude.
Still, the world struggles to understand Obama. He isn't a leader, they cry. He doesn't relate to the people, others say.
So here is what I see as the problem with Obama: He operates from the position of what's wrong with America and not from the mindset as most Americans do: That America is a brilliant country with a few problems that need to be addressed. Obama is a man who tends to see the glass as half-empty rather than half-full. This is dangerous. For a country reflects its leaders. When our leaders are negative, so becomes the feelings of the people.
The new cry from pundits and citizens is the sense that Obama is different than the rest of Americans. And this is correct. It is becoming more clear by the minute that President Barack Obama dislikes his own country and many of the things it stands for.
Obama may be the first American president who is not a patriot, but is, in fact, a traitor to the core principle that is America.
While not perfect and surely many presidents have made immoral choices, on the whole, the US is a moral nation. Morality stands at the heart of everything that is America.
But Obama may not represent the moral fabric of America. Certainly, as I say below, his treatment of Israel supports this truth.
John Heillmann and Mark Halperin wrote a recent bestseller, Game Change. I don't think they titled their book for the same reason I will title Obama's presidency as Game Change.
All change is not good, as we are quickly learning from the Obama presidency. America's soul cannot be up for barter with terrorists, with rogue nations, and certainly not with friends. Pertaining to Israel, tough love is the recent phrase I've heard bantered about in discussion over Obama's negative turn against Israel.
But how about being tough on ourselves? No, we are not living in easy times. The terrorists are after America and the infidels. Obama wants to blame the attacks on the US on its brotherhood with Israel. That's the easy way out and sadly, it wreaks of moral degeneracy.
Surely the United States has more backbone than Obama has.
Tough times call for tough love directed on ourselves. Whatever we suffer we can not and must not mislay our moral fiber in a misguided appeasement to evil.
Mike Pence (R-Ind) gave an impassioned speech on this very question in which he asked our immoral president "Whose side are you anyway?"
I think the American people deserve an honest answer.

OBAMA SLICK
President Obama's new policy towards Israel is immoral and represents a sell-out rare to the United States. Obama's Middle East policy states that the U.S. no longer unilaterally stands behind its longtime ally in the Middle East. The supposition is that doing so provokes our enemies in the Middle East with fuel to further hate America. So according to Obama, we should sell out our ally who has stood steadfastly with the U.S., a democratic nation, so that the bad guys don't hurt America anymore.
Is this the kind of thinking Obama would employ in educating his daughters on how to deal with nasty playmates on the playground? Sell out your friends to diffuse the power of your enemies?
President Obama is a slick politician, which we learned from the Democratic Party's primary...at least some of us did. He is now engaging his slime in foreign affairs. American's should be outraged. What are we to stand for in the future? Obama is taking America down a slippery slope.
He's a slime ball like the slimy, sludge pouring into the Gulf overtaking our most valuable resources.
And that's nothing I ever thought I'd call a President of the United States.

OBAMA DRINKING OTHER'S KOOL-AID
Recently I was reminded of this quote by our sorely spineless president said on Meet the Press after his Middle East tour:
"I think King Abdullah of Jordan is as savvy an analyst of the region and player in the region as there is. And one of the points he made and that I think a lot of people made is that we've got to have an overarching strategy recognizing that all these issues are connected.
If we can solve the Israeli-Palestinian process, then that will make it easier for Arab states and the Gulf states to support us when it comes to issues like Iraq and Afghanistan. It will also weaken Iran, which has been using Hamas and Hizballah as a way to stir up mischief in the region. If we've gotten an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal, maybe at the same time peeling Syria out of the Iranian orbit, that makes it easier to isolate Iran so that they have a tougher time developing a nuclear weapon."
Obama not only bought Abdullah's Kool-aid, but in doing so, he actually made a deal with the devil, and a foolish one at that. The fruits of that deal, as witnessed in the fiasco that has ensued since Obama started implementing the Jordanian King's theories have not strengthened America's status with the Muslim world and has only further inflamed anti-Israel sentiment. It has given Turkey the impetus to friend Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah. It has empowered Iran who now seems to be calling the shots in the region, and it doesn't yet officially have the bomb.
And what has the US gained in all of this? ZILCH! But our key dependable, strategic ally in the region, Israel, will no longer trust the U.S., at least as long as this foreign affairs neophyte, backstabbing, short-sighted fool is out of the White House.

Hamas is a terrorist organization that has taken over the Palestinian people. It has lobbed rockets into Israel killing citizens and terrifying all.
The issue is how to contain Hamas. But the world, and especially the American president who doesn't know how to stop al Queda, the terrorists that have struck its shores, think the Israeli's should treat Hamas, who lives in Israel's backyard, differently than we fight terrorism.
The embargo works. Hamas is contained, rocket fire dwindles, Israeli's feel safer. The Gazans are not starving, as Israel's foes would have the world think.
The bottom line is that there is a solution to the plight of the Gazans: evict Hamas terrorists by taking control of your own future and agree to recognize Israel then commit to live in peace. If you don't, then why should Israel believe they wouldn't have another terrorist-led "country" living on their other border?
To the world: maybe it's time for Israel's opponents to look at their behavior towards Israel through a different set of eyes. It's interesting that inside Israel, Jews and Arabs live side by side in a pretty effective country.
It's sad how all the others prefer to make war not peace.

THE WEAPONS OF PEACE?
It is amazing to me how the world can avoid the truth of what happened on that flotilla, even when truth is staring them in the face, as seen on videotape. Stun guns, chains, iron bars...are these the weapons of peace? No.
The world is on a feeding frenzy and Israel is the bait. We can thank Pres. Barack Obama for this. He unleashed the Jew hatred that was simmering below the world's surface when he changed the US longstanding policy of standing strong with Israel. Some say Obama's handling of the Middle East has been a foreign policy blunder, which Obama aims to fix. I wonder.
UPDATE: Apparently others agree with me. And here.

THE TURKISH BLOODBATH
Here's a must-read piece on the truth about the flotilla. While I write this I am listening to an MSNBC report that is so outrageously biased against Israel it is pathetic. In the face of the video that clearly shows what actually happened aboard that ship, and the continued world blame of Israel, it makes you wonder if Israel wouldn't serve itself best by threatening to leave the UN, which has become the United Nations Against Israel.
UPDATE: Sorry, short on time today, but this is great!
