HALLI CASSER-JAYNE

Bio

Smart, sassy, unconventional and blatantly honest, that is author-photographer Halli Casser-Jayne, and that best describes her work whether as a writer or photographer.

Next week Ms. Casser-Jayne will release her novel, Mambo, A Conversation with the Gods as a web-exclusive, an e-book avail through amazon.com, ebobbypinbooks.com, thecjpoliticalreport.com, and her website, Hallicasser-jayne.com.

A foreign correspondent in the 1980's, Ms. Casser-Jayne reported from war-torn El Salvador and guerrilla-infested Guatemala.

She wrote and produced the six-hour rockumentary on the seminal 60's band the DOORS. She collaborated with Door's drummer, John Densmore on his now celebrated biography, Riders on the Storm.

Her current book, Still Life, images of Antietam, features the first serious collection of photographs recorded of Antietam Battlefield since Alexander Gardner's 1866 work, Sketchbook of the Civil War. The 152-page volume is a deeply emotional look at the single bloodiest day in American history.

Eminent historian, Dr. Joseph L. Harsh says the book "is for those who reach out to feel the past." Antietam National Battlefield Superintendent, John Howard, who wrote the introduction to the book, calls the work "a refreshing viewpoint."  Still Life, images of Antietam, which sells for $32.95, is available at leading bookstores throughout the country and online.

Ms. Casser-Jayne will be releasing her new book, OKUSOBOKA, A Journey Through Uganda with a forewod by His Majesty Rukirabasaija King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I in spring 2009. (www.hallicasser-jayne.com)

Never shy about expressing her thoughts, Ms. Casser-Jayne shares her opinions and commentary Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on her blog, The CJ Political report.
